Job Overview
We are in search of a highly qualified Lead DevOps Engineer to join our dynamic team on a remote basis. This pivotal position offers a unique chance to mentor fellow team members and spearhead our DevOps initiatives, ultimately enhancing automation, refining processes, and facilitating seamless application migrations. Your contributions will play a crucial role in supporting Iowa schools and stakeholders through a comprehensive range of data collection and reporting applications.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive the DevOps Strategy (60-70% Hands-on, 30-40% Leadership): Balance practical implementation with strategic oversight, focusing on automating CI/CD pipelines, establishing best practices, and guiding development teams through successful migrations.
- Lead Application Migration: Take the initiative in migrating applications from TFS/ADO to GitHub, leveraging your expertise with GitHub Actions, GitHub Enterprise, and Azure DevOps to create effective migration strategies.
- Foster DevOps Automation & Optimization: Develop scalable and automated solutions for builds, testing, and deployments, while optimizing branching, merging, and release processes to improve efficiency.
- Provide Mentorship & Technical Guidance: Share your knowledge with developing talent, lead technical discussions, and offer best practice guidance in areas such as development, security, and process automation.
- Ensure Security and Code Quality: Integrate security scanning tools into the development pipeline and lead efforts to enhance code quality through automated testing, code reviews, and continuous integration practices.
- Support Cloud and Infrastructure: Primarily centered on Azure, you will also have exposure to other cloud providers and Infrastructure as Code (IaC), setting up and managing CI/CD pipelines from the ground up.
